1914 webbing large pack with leather straps by Kay Canvas
The 1914 large pack was worn when worn with the 1914 webbing set was called marching order, the British soldier would keep in here his 1909 Greatcoat, spare socks and underclothes etc. when marching between camps this would be carried on the soldiers back and his small pack would be carried on his belt.
When the soldier went up to the front line this would be in the trench and left behind if they went on an attack or raiding party.
Designed to fit onto the brass buckles on the 1914 shoulder straps.
Also used with this was the 1914 Support straps ( not included ) that help keep the pack firm on the soldiers back latter in 1916 the helmet was carried on the pack with these straps.
