ACW 1860 Colt Holster Left Hand Draw Cap & Ball Revolver

Standard American Civil War pistol holster used by Officers and Cavalrymen.

Black leather pistol holster for the Colt Navy revolver, Remington New model Army revolver Model 1858 and the 1861 old model Army Colt Revolver.

At the time of the American Civil War the pistol was classed as a secondary weapon, the sword or sabre being the primary one so the pistol was used in the left hand. The pistol is worn butt forward so the normal wearing of a pistol holster was on the right hip with the butt facing forward and you would draw it with your left hand. This was standard during the American Civil War and the American Indian wars.

This is the classic holster seen everywhere in the American Civil War (ACW) sitting on the hips of officers and then after the war by anyone carrying the cap and ball revolvers.

The US Army pistol holster is made from black leather with white stitching and has the correct sewn in muzzle end so the end is not flat. Used by both the Northern Armies and the Southern Armies. 

The belt loop on the back will fit belts up to 3 1/2" wide and the belt loop is stitched and riveted. The strap that secures the flap is stitched and riveted onto the flap and the strap fastens onto a brass stud which is in the main body of the holster. 

The holster fits most old west/ American Civil War revolvers with a barrel length of up to 8" including the following models (original revolvers and replica revolvers including the Denix made guns):
