The brown leather scabbard was introduced with the British army's adoption of the Officer's Sam Browne equipment and replaced the previous steel scabbard. The Leather scabbard was to be worn from the belt with service dress.

The scabbard is made like the original out of wood and covered in a light tan leather, it features a steel chape and locket with a leather strap to attach to the frog button on the Sam Browne frog.
