This Polish Paratroopers badge was worn by parachute trained soldiers of the 1st Polish Independent Parachute brigade which was formed in 1941 and trained at Ringway Manchester and then in Upper Largo Scotland.

This Parachute  qualification badge is a Pre Op Market Garden (September 1944) and has a screw backing stamped with "Kirkwood and Sons Edinburgh" who made badges while they were based in Scotland. The Kirkwood model is thinner and has swept back wings with the Brass Kirkwood Screw back

The  attacking eagle badge ,diving with its talons extended was called the Znak Spadochronowy—the paratrooper’s badge. The idea for such a badge was conceived in June 1941.
