The Horse Grenadiers of Napoleons Imperial Guard " Grenadier a Cheval de la Garde" sword by Lantern Armouries.

The Horse Grenadiers was the senior regiment in Napoleons Imperial Guard and the Elite hand picked mounted Grenadiers, usually held in reserve ready to rush in to tip the balance of the fight at a decisive moment when commanded to by Napoleon.

Features of the Lantern Armouries French Imperial Guard Sword

  • 37 1/2 steel balde with Fuller
  • Engraved down the spine with signature 
  • "Kingenthal Factory"  a sword maker to Imperial guard 
  • Large Brass hilt mounted with Grande
  • Leather bound handle with Brass wire
  • Forward slopping pommel and grip
  • Wood Scabbard overlaid with Brass
  • Black leather inserts to scabbard
  • Weight of Sword and scabbard 2550 grams


The Horse Grenadiers were used in some of Napoleons famous battles including 1805 battle of Austerlitz charging the Russian Imperial Guard that had just outflanked and smashed the French light regiment. A counter charge was put in and the Horse Grenadiers broke the Russian attack and killed over 200.
