German WW2 DRL Sports Badge Award Bronze

German WW2 Sports badge Bronze Award, awarded by the German D.R.L. "Deutscher Reichsbund fur Leibesubungen".

The DRL sports badge was awarded by the national sports committee and there was 3 grades; Bronze, Silver and Gold. It was worn by military and civilians.

The bronze was awarded to both Men and Women aged between 18 and 32 years who has passed 5 parts of the national fitness tests within a 12 month period.

The silver grade was awarded to 18 to 32 year old's who passed the bronze award for 8 years, or for 32 to 40 year old's who passed the national fitness tests within a 12 month period.

The gold award was for 18 to 32 year old's who had held the silver award for 7 years or for people aged over 40 years who passed the national fitness test in a 12 month period.

There are 2 different versions of the sports badges that could be worn in WW2. The first one was awarded by the "Deutscher Reichs-Ausschuss" which was the German National Committee for Physical Training this badge had the letters "D.R.A. The D.R.A. badge was awarded up to 1933 when the organization was placed under the command of "Deutscher Reichsbund fur Leibesubungen" and the letters changed to D.R.L. on the badge.
