When Rommel became the commander of German forces in North Africa in February 1941 they were renamed "Deutsches Afrikakorps" (DAK) later raised to a Panzergruppe which included 90 leiche Division. In 1942 it was changed again to Panzerarmee Afrika. At its height the Deutsches Afrikakorps included 15 and 21 Panzr Divisions, 90 leichte Division, 164 Infanterie Division and the Fallschirmjager Brigade Ramcke.
