- Yellow band around the crown for Cavalry.
- Two rows of gold officers braid around the crown, down the front, sides and back and on the crown forming the distinctive swirls.
- Black chinstrap with brass buckle.
- Brass buttons on the sides holding on the chinstrap have "CSA" on them.
- Short black visor peak.
