US Army WW2 Officers Womens Trousers Slacks OD 51

American 1940's women's trousers for Officer's.

Officially called "Slacks" these trousers are made in the Officers OD 51 colour. 

Issued to the Army Nurse Corps and worn as a private purchase item for Officers in other Branch of Service's.

The slacks were approved in August 1943 for Nurses serving overseas initially but was then approved for wear on hospital ships, hospital trains and flight nurse training courses. 

The unit commanding officer decided if Nurses could wear the slacks instead of the skirt.

These were worn with he standard Women's OD 51 Officer's tunic or the short E.T.O. Ike jacket.

The Women's trousers have the following features:

  • Correct 1940's high waist style.
  • 2 button closure on the left hand side.
  • Pleats and darts at the waist line.
  • Waist can be adjusted with the tab and 3 buttons on the waist band on the left hand side.
  • Hand pocket on the right hand side
  • Two buttons on the back of the inside of the waistband (these were to fasten onto the ETO Ike jacket).
  • Label on the waistband reads "Regulation Army Officer's Uniform Tailored by Kay Canvas".
