WW2 USAAF Army Air Force shoulder patch.
Shoulder patch worn on combat and dress uniforms in WW2 by the personnel in the U.S.A.A.F. (United States Army Air Force). This badge would have been sewn on the shoulder of jackets like the M41 jackets, A class tunics, Ike jackets and the M43 jackets.
This shoulder patch was officially apprved on the 23rd February 1942 to be worn by all members of the AAF or the Army Air Forces wherever they where statoned including England. Later in the war specifiec unit badges where issued. The badge was designed by a member of General Arnolds staff, James T Raws who was also an artist. The upturned wings where inspired by Prime Minister Winston Churchill V for Victory sign.
This shoulder patch is made in the correct 1940's WW2 style with a raw edge finish.
