Original WW1 British Brodie Mk2 Helmet issued to the American army.
The liner is marked on the inside with a name and unit of the soldier, which looks like "Corp Carl E Anderson 312 TMB (Trench Mortar Battery) AEF
So it was issued to a soldier in the 312th Trench Mortar Battery (TMB) in the American Expeditionary Force (AEF) in France.
This is an nice example of a British WW1 MK2 Brodie helmet, which has about 50% of the original paint finish in a light green with the rough sand finish on the outside. The paint has been hand applied and the brush stokes can be seen on the underside.
The helmet steel shell is stamped with the makers intials (FS 170) plus the company that rolled the steel which is the number 170
The original oil cloth liner is still in good condition, flexible and not sticky with only a minor hole plus its Ink Stamped on inside with (Brodie Helmet Steel War Office pattern).
The chinstrap is broken and missing.
This is the British model with the chinstrap hangers attached by split pins instead of rivets as used on US WW1 Helmets
The liner has the rubber doughnut ring which was used from 1917 onwards.
