British Army Pattern Lance by lantern Armouries

This was the standard British Army lance issued from 1864 to Present day and during this period there has been 3 models with slight differences between them including the 1885 and finally the 1894. All were built to generally the same size of 9ft  long with a steel tip and Butt end with a Buff leather wrist strap.

The Lance saw active service in many parts of the world and famous campaigns, it was extremely successful and as a lance used from horseback was virtually impossible to improve upon. Used notably during the Anglo Zulu wars, Boer War,  India. Special lancer cavalry units were highly trained in using the lance which was used up to and during the early part of the First world war.
