1939 WW2 Iron Cross 1st Class with Screw Back Fastener by RUM
Quality metal Iron cross 1st Class with a screw back fastening.
The Iron cross first class with the screw back fastener instead of the pin back, has a stronger fixing point than the pin back and it holds the Iron Cross closer to the tunic compared to the pin back fastener. You will need to make a small hole in your tunic pocket though to allow the screw thread through.
1939 on the on the bottom of the cross and the swastika in the middle.
The Iron Cross was awarded for bravery in battle as well as other military contributions in a battlefield environment. The Iron Cross 1st Class was a pin-on medal with no ribbon and was worn centered on a uniform breast pocket, either on dress uniforms or everyday outfit. It was a progressive award, with the second class having to be earned before the first class and so on for the higher degrees.
