WW2 US Army 2 man Pup tent in OD#7, dark green, this is made from 2 x shelter halves.
The OD#7 green model 1943 pup tent includes the following items:
- 2 x Green canvas shelter halves with button fasteners.
- 10 x Wooden pegs.
- 6 x Pole sections each end requires 3 sections pushed together so enough for 2 poles.
- 2 x Guy ropes, traditional rope not nylon.
- 1 x lightweight canvas bag, only large enough to hold the shelter halves, will not fit the pegs and poles in as well.
We are calling these pup tents the 1943 model which is for ease of identification rather than an actual date they where first issued. The earliest manufacturing date I have seen on a double ended shelter half is 1943 but that was an OD#3 colour but as the colour changed on the uniforms in 1943 to OD#7 we have decided to call these OD#7 colour replica pup tents the 1943 model.
WW2 US Army 2 man Pup tent in OD#7, dark green, this is made from 2 x shelter halves.
During WW2 the US Army used a few different versions of the Pup tent, the first was an open ended design in OD#3 (khaki/tan) then the US Army improved the design in 1943 by adding triangular end pieces so that the tent could be closed up, shortly after this the colour changed to the OD#7, dark green. Then later the buttons used to join the two halves together changed from metal buttons to special double ended press studs.
This is the first model made in the dark green OD#7 colour, it has the triangle shaped ends pieces so the end of the tent is enclosed and the two shelter half pieces are joined together by metal buttons. The buttons are special buttons which are riveted on and the button head is on a raised stem so that there is enough space for the canvas to fit on.

1943 green shelter half features:
Each shelter half has the following features:
- 5 grommets for pegs. 3 along the base and 1 at each end of the flaps.
- 2 grommets in the top corners for the poles to go through.
- Canvas loop on the top corners for the guy ropes
- 5 double rows of buttons down each door to close the flaps.
- 9 double rows of buttons along the roof to join the two shelter halves together.
- 55" wide at widest point.
- 65" along the base of the square section.
The poles are the late war version which replaced the earlier tri-folding tent poles. When the pup tent colour changed to OD#7 the poles changed to these single pole sections which push together and where painted green. These pole section are unissued and genuine US Army issue from the 1980's.
The shelter halves are new replicas using quality heavy canvas, the canvas shelter halves are all the same colour green so you do not need to worry about mismatching colours.
