This shoulder patch is made in the correct WW2 style and was worn by the 1st S.S.F. on the combat and dress uniform.
The 1st S.S.F. (Special Service Force) was an elite unit trained for mountain warfare, they where trained and skilled in mountain climbing, skiing, parachuting as well as close combat. They could be used anywhere.
The unit was made up of Canadian and US soldiers.
They were nicknamed the "Black Devils" as a result of blacking there faces before a raid at Anzio
