This desk top flag is ideal for your den or office where space is limited.

The 24th foot Queens colours were carried in the Anglo Zulu war by the 1st battalion the 24th foot on the Invasion of Zululand 11th January 1879, the central column under command of Colonel Glyn crossed the Buffalo river at Rorke's Drift.

It took nearly 10 days to reach Mount Islandhlwana a distance of 8 miles due to heavy rains. There the 24th foot camped and the Queens colours were put in a bell tent for safe keeping.

The Zulus attacked on the morning of the 22nd of January, the camp was overrun by 2pm, survivors were making there escape and so were  Lt Melvill and Lt Coghill who were both mounted and were given the 24th's Queens colours and told to save them from capture.

They rode all the way the Fugitives Drift were they were overwhelmed by Zulus and both died at the Buffalo River trying
