This ink stamp would have been used to print onto Medical Red Cross arm bands and then signed in the centre by Medical Ofiicer which then made the Arm Band offical and the soldier was protected by the International  Geneva Convention.

It can also be used to Authorize Meducal paper work including passses and reports.
