British Jungle Green JG Shorts Uniform Set

This uniform set is what an infantry Soldier in the 14th (Forgotten) Army including units like the 3rd Indian chindits Division inBurma in 1943 to 45 would have worn when in the rear area out of battle.

In 1943 the British army started designing and issuing a new range of jungle green clothing to replace the vat dyed KD uniforms as previous issued to British and commonwealth uniforms fighting in the jungles of Burma and SE Asia where the KD clothing was found to have performed badly in terms of camouflage and durability.

Summary

British Jungle Green JG Shorts Uniform Set

This uniform set is what an infantry Soldier in the 14th (Forgotten) Army including units like the 3rd Indian chindits Division inBurma in 1943 to 45 would have worn when in the rear area out of battle. They wore a varied combination of Indian and UK made jungle green clothing depending on what they could get issued. This uniform sets combines the JG Shorts  that replaced the KD vat dyed shorts  and proved very popular with the Airtex shirt  instead of  the JG BD jacket which was to short and rode up the wearers back. He also wears the famous Slouch hat which again was very popular and practical in the juggles of Burma and Malaya. Standard issue black ammo boot with putties were used until 1945 before being replaced by brown jungle boots and gaiters. Webbing was worn to the minimum amount and made in green as blanco did not work in the damp and humid conditions.
