    This Badge set would have been worn by all Infantry soldiers of the 5th Coldstream Guards on their BD Battle Dress uniform in Operation Overlord the Invasion of Normandy as part of the 1st Amoured division The 5th Guards Infantry Brigade, which included the 5th Bn, was the first element of the Guards Armoured Division to arrive in Normandy, being concentrated immediately south-west of the city by 26 June 1944

    He was a member of the 1st Amoured Gurads Division and so wears the Div patch and Infantry Arm of service stripes on both upper Arms with his Regimental shoulder titles above these.
