WW2 American Blood Chit for A2 jacket, printed on imitation silk.

The famous flying Tigers who served in China had this blood Chit sewn into their A2 leather Jacket.

The blood chit's where designed to be shown to locals to show that they where friendly and not the enemy.

These are the type issued to US 14th Air Force and the 14th Volunteer Squadron aircrew fighing against the Japanese in Burma and China. The AVG (American Volunteer Group) Flying Tigers often had the Blood Chit sewn into the back of their A2 leather flying jackets,

The blood chit was written in Chinese and said "This foreign person has come to China to help in the war effort. Soliders and civilians, one and all, should rescue, protect and provide him medical care. 

So if a pilot was shot down and was found by the locals he could show them blood chit and they would know he was not the enemy and a reward was often given for the safe return of a pilot.

Printed on imiation silk with lightweight fabric stiffener on the back to help keep its shape and to make it easier to sew into the jacket.
