Jacket Parachutists 1942 Pattern Oversmock by Kay Canvas.
This Sleeveless jacket was designed to be worn over all the soldiers kit and was officially called "Jacket Parachutist 1942 pattern" but has been called The Oversmock by veterans and collectors alike. They were made oversized and to be discarded on landing but this was not always the case as some were painted with DZ Tactical markers for aiding troops finding the correct rallying point.
The Oversmock was made from heavy mid green denim with a lighter green inside and features a full length zip which strangely finished about 3" shorter on the left side. the Zip was often sewn into Denison smocks converting them to full length smocks.
A Crotch strap just like on the Denison smock with a series of 3 pairs of the correct Newey brass studs help keeping the smock tight when worn over the soldiers clothing and 1937 webbing.
On the bottom are 2 small elastic pockets which were designed for grenades that the Parachutist could drop if there were German soldiers below.
4 sizes available similar size to Denison Smock
Please note these are made like the original and oversized to fit over all your kit when jumping.
