This bandolier is designed to hold M16 rounds on stripper clips and will fit 20rd magazines.

These were originally issued loaded with rounds on stripper clips (10 rounds on each stripper clip) you then loaded the rounds into your magazine. It was common to put your fully loaded magaizne (20 round mags) into the bandoliers as a way of carrying extra magaiznes.
