WW2 M1941 Water Bottle Canteen Set in OD#3 tan by Kay Canvas

US WW2 M1941 Mounted canteen set by Kay Canvas.

As with several other items equipment designed for use by mounted troops can be seen being worn by paratroopers in WW2.

The set includes the M1941 mounted water bottle cover/canteen carrier by Kay Canvas and M1910 water bottle and mug. These are all replica and are new condition.

These sets would be carried on the Garand belts and the pistol belts.

The mounted water bottle was issued to the cavalry and it differed to the standard water bottle cover by the addition of two horizontal strips of webbing on the back. The webbing strips reinforced the back when it was carried by mounted as the back had more wear and tear when being used by the mounted cavalry troops. 

This is sometimes still called the M1910 canteen carrier, which it basically is as if is an improved version of the M1910 the difference being it is slightly wider and the seam on the back does not go the full height of the pouch, this was introduced in 1941/1942.

The pouch is made of tan/khaki (officially called OD#3) cotton webbing with "U.S." stamped on the front. It has the standard WW2 belt fitting on the back.

The inside is wool lined and the pouch is closed by two lift the dot fasteners.

Premium quality webbing pouch, these are made by Kay Canvas using the best fabrics. The metal is brass not steel and the cotton canvas webbing has the correct weight and weave of the originals for a high quality pouch. These are as good as originals, they just do not have that old musty smell to them.

Made in the correct WW2 colour of OD#3 which is a tan/khaki colour. Stamped on the front "U.S." and "Kay Canvas 1941" on the back.
