US M1 Ammo bag, this was a general purpose bag to carry an assortment of ammo including rifle clips, carbine magazines, boxed ammo for machine guns, rifle grenades and hand grenades.
It was carried in WW2 by all troops including Infantry and Paratroopers to carry extra ammo and grenades. It was also designed to be attached to vehicles and was a popular bag strapped onto jeeps and half tracks etc.
The bag feratures:
- Approximately 31cm high. 20cm wide and 12cm deep.
- Premuim cotton canvas.
- Metalwork is black coated brass for extra strength.
- Front is closed by a single 2.5cm wide strap.
- Two straps on the sides one has a clip on the end and the other a D ring stitched on the ends, so you can fasten the bag onto the sides of vehicles etc
- 4 D rings (2 on each side) so you can attach the bag onto vehicles etc.
- Reinforced webbing around 3 sides of the bag.
- A GP strap can be attached so it can be carried as a shoulder bag.
- Stamped on the inside of the flap "Kay Canvas 1944".
