American WW2 M1941 Field Jacket.
Officially called "Jacket, Field, OD", it was introduced in May 1941 and was worn throughout World War Two. The M41 jacket was designed before the war and was to replace the 4 pocket wool service tunic for field use.
After field test's before the war by General Parsons this was the design that was decided best suited combat field use by the US Army.
The M1941 jacket was issued to all US troops as the standard field jacket for combat use including: Infantry, M.P.'s, Signal's, Glider Troops, Air Force, Airborne Troops (often worn off duty with the large P.I.R. unit patch sewn on the breast), US Army in the Pacific and they where even worn by the USMC.
This M41 is made by Kay Canvas and is one of the best replicas on the market, it has all the original features including a lightweight wool liner and the outer cotton is a nice light OD colour which looks brown/khaki in colour and not green like the current M41's made by the likes of Mil-tec which we have for sale elsewhere on our web site.
This is the second pattern M41 jacket (the first pattern was introduced in October 1940, and saw little use differed only by having flaps on the pockets which button down to close them and it had no shoulder epaulets).
