M42 German Infantry Helmet. Grey Single Army Decal

German M42 steel combat helmet grey with Single Army decal on left side. Includes the shell, liner and chinstrap.

WW2 German infantry helmet, this is the M42 model which has the "raw edge" rim, as a cost saving measure the rolling or crimping procedure used on the rim of earlier helmets was omitted. The two vents also replica the outwardly embossed vents replacing the insert-able vent rivets of earlier models.

From March 1940 the National decal on the right hand side was to be removed and from mid 1943 all decals were ordered to be removed, but decals could still be seen in Normandy 1944.
