Polish Armband worn by Members of the Polish Home Army

The Warsaw underground resistance group, Armia Krajowa [Home Army], known as A.K. were all locally made of red and white cotton and hand printed with WP Wojsko Polskie (Polish Army) with the polish eagle in the centre. The Poilsh Home Army wore a mixture of civilian, Pre 1939 Polish army uniforms and captured German Army tunics, Helmets and weapons  so this armband would identify the wear as a resitance fighter and not a german soldier.

The Warsaw uprising  from August 1-October 5, 1944, was the attempt by the Polish Home Army to retake Warsaw from the German occupying forces. They retook much of the city, but without the promised aid  of the Soviet Union, whose forces were within sight of the city,
