British Army Officers Neck Scarf & RAF Blue Ascot Tie

During WW2 Royal Air force Pilots can bee seen wearing the Ascot Tie when they were flying because with the constant turning checking for bandits it stopped the tunic rubbing on the neck, kept the wind off and  it looked dapper.

The Ascot tie was also seen worn in North Africa with KD uniform with the open neck KD tunic as no shirt was worn underneath

The Ascot Tie was a very popular form of wear by civilians before the WW2 with the upper class and University students  which is where many of the Battle of Britain pilots would have come from.

The Ascot tie was named after the Royal Ascot horse meeting at the ascot racecourse
