These where issued to the British Commandos and Airborne troops in WW2.
You can see these in many war time photos wrapped around the waist or across the shoulders and back British commandos and paratroopers.
These high quality replicas are made using old fashioned thick rope with a loop at one end and a wooden toggle on the other end just like the originals. All they need is some wear to make them look old.
Several could be quickly looped together to form a climbing rope etc.
