No75 Hawkins Mine Anti-tank Grenade MKII

£37.99 £31.66

No75 "Hawkins Mine" Anti-tank Grenade

Designed during WW2, the No 75 anti tank grenade or as it was popular called the "Hawkins Mine" was a classic war time design and production. The design of the tin is unmistakable and was made by the Metal box company who made all sorts of tins from Biscuits tins to petrol can.

This metal reproduction of the MKII No75 mine is the correct size and design of the original war time ones, even down to it being painted in the correct brown colour and it has the red bands painted top and bottom to indicate the High Explosives inside.

The MKII hawkins mine has a flat striker plate that has a reinforced ridge down the entire length with pockets angled outwards to ease the insertion of detonators. On the original mines when the striker plate was pressed down enough with enough pressure, it causes the ridge to break the chemical vial inside the detonator which ignites the process of detonation of the grenade.

The screwed on metal top would have been glued on after four drops of polar dynamite in the bottom and then filled with HE.

The Hawkins mine was used in WW2 by the British Army and the US Airborne in the likes of Normandy and Arhnem.

The Hawkins mine can often been seen strapped to the legs of the US paratroopers like the 101st Airborne and the 82nd Airborne Divisions.

This full size replica Hawkins Mine features:

  • Manufactured from metal.
  • Correct stamping's embossed on the front which is "No 75 II MB Co".
  • Painted in the correct green colour.
  • Two red bands, 1 around the top and 1 around the bottom.
  • Screw top cannot be removed.
  • The top is stamped "No 75 II MB Co".
  • The back has the striker plate and holders for the detonators.
  • It contains no explosive and the screw on top cannot be removed.
