GD M40 Grossdeutschland Infantry Unteroffizier Subdued Boards by RUM

£15.00 £12.50

Unteroffizier Infantry GD shoulder boards in the field grey with the mid to late war subdued grey rank tresse.

Field grey shoulder boards with GD embroidered onto them for the German Heer Grossdeutschland Division with the white piping for the Infantry units and grey subdued rank tresse for a Unteroffizier.

In 1940 the German Army started to use a subdued tresse lace for the rank, which was a grey cotton rather than the metallic silver ones. Although silver lace was still in use at the end of the war. These shoulder boards are made with the subdued tresse lace. We also have these shoulder boards available in the bright silver tresse if you want an earlier war style (see below under related items).

These are worn by the GD on the M40, M42, M43 and M44 wool tunics.

The field green (often referred to as Field Grey) shoulder boards are piped with Infantry white and the embroidered "GD" is in the matching white colour stitching.

We refer to the shoulder boards as the M40 model or pattern simply as they can be worn with the M40, M42, M43 and the M44 uniforms. They are sometimes referred to as the M43, mid war, late war or just the field grey shoulder boards but we call them the M40 for ease of identity.
