American WW2 wrist compass used by the US paratroopers in Normandy and beyond in World War Two,

The para wrist compass was originally a US Army Engineers issue item in WW2, but was adopted by the US Airborne Paratroopers as it was ideal to strap onto the wrist, arms, shoulder epaulets on the jump jacket or simply loop it onto webbing suspenders or belts.

This replica of the famous American World War Two Taylor wrist compass includes the leather wrist strap.

These are sold for historically purpose and not as a working compass to navigate with, although the needle works they are not guaranteed to be accurate enough to navigate with safely.

The Taylor wrist compass was issued to both paratrooper enlisted men and paratrooper officers, so they could quickly navigate after they had landed behind enemy lines.

Correct markings on the back which is "US Army compass wrist liquid filled" and Taylor model" with the address of "Rochester N.Y. U.S.A.". 

The markings on the back are placed around the raised molded slot which the strap slides into.

The front or top of the compass turns on the base and there are markings in degrees around the edge so you can take a bearing. The front is also marked "Taylor".

The compass is liquid filled and the needle is green with a yellow north point.

Price includes compass and leather style strap. Strap is 36 cm long.

Ideal to add that extra bit of kit to your paratrooper D-Day impression as they were used by the 82nd Airborne Division and the 101st Airborne Division.
