This is a fantastic reproduction of the classic American Mk 11 fragmentation hand grenade more commonly called the "pineapple grenade". It was the standard grenade issued to all branches of service (Army, Marines, Infantry, Airborne etc) in WW2.
There are a lot of replicas of the Pineapple hand grenade some good, some not so good. Some have levers (spoons) that are not fitted correctly which stick out the side and break off when you squeeze the lever to hold the grenade. Others have post war levers (spoons) which are shorter than the standard 1942 version.

These metal replica pineapple grenades weigh 500g, they have the correct number of 40 segments in the body (8 rows of 5 segments), the vertical grooves are continuous from the bottom of the body to the top of the neck (after WW1 to about the start of WW2 the groove was in two sections), the spoon or lever is the longer version finishing near the bottom of the grenade. The head screws off from the body and the pin and lever are removable. A yellow band is painted around the neck as a mark for high explosive. There is a hole in the base so it can be shown to be empty and a replica. Originals either had a screw in plug or had a solid base, the solid base was introduced about 1942/1943. The head and body unscrew and the handle and pin are separate.
