This type of tin was issued to British Army Soldiers during WW2, they were designed to keep the contents safe and dry, this would be a standard issue tea ration which would have contained powdered Tea, Sugar, and milk all mixed together in a powder so it would be as easy to brew just add in as many spoon fulls as the Soldier wanted.
The tin is made of metal just like an old fashioned tobacco tin with a seal inside the lid to keep contents dry and fresh with a clear sticky label on outside declaring the contents.
