US M43 Entrenching tool. Folding M43 E tool 1944 dated
Genuine American military issue WW2 M43 folding entrenching tool.
Original war time issue, these are dated 1944 and where introduced as part of the 1943 overhaul of the American clothing and equipment.
These have been in storage for many years so have stayed in good condition. The US M43 E tools where re issued to the Danish Army after WW2, so they have the Danish crest on the metal shaft which can be easily covered with a little work and paint if required. The Danish crest cannot usually be seen when it is in the carrying case (carrying case not included).
The 1943 model entrenching tool was issued to replace the solid one piece M1928 Entrenching tool. This improved entrenching design has a folding head which locks into place with needed and folds 180 degrees back on itself to make it easier to carry on the belt.
Most M43 E tools are dated 1945, earlier dated ones are harder to find.
