Wyatt Earp 1881 double barrel shotgun by Denix

American wild west 1881 shotgun. The shotgun was a popular choice in the American old west as you did not need to be a marksman and the average pistol was not that accurate in the hands of the average cowboy.

This is a replica of the 1881 double barrel shotgun which was favoured by law men like Wyatt Earp, shotguns where made in various barrel lengths this one is shorter than the standard hunting shotgun. The length of this 1881 double barrel shotgun is 88cm which makes it easier to handle when riding "shotgun" on the stage coach or doing the city rounds as Sheriff at night.

The shotgun can be seen in almost every western film being carried by law men, stage coach men, miners even the grumpy old man who looks after the local jail. During the civil war the shotgun was even carried by some confederate cavalry.

In the wild west the shotgun was seen in various sizes and barrel lengths this replica one is made by Denix and has the following features:

  • Wood grip and furniture.
  • Heavy metal barrel (this is not gun metal so it will not take the heat of an explosion so it cannot fire any sort of cartridge blank or real).
  • Thumb release catch on the top between the hammers.
  • Break open barrel.
  • Two hammers on the top can be cocked twice.
  • Can be dry fired (cock the hammers pull the trigger and the hammers fire).
  • Hollow barrel.
  • Weighs over two and half Kg (2700 g).
  • Total length 88cm. 35 inches.

The replica guns are sold as props for film, theatre and re-enactment use. We can only ship them to a UK address via courier (excluding the Isle of Man, Isle of Scilly and the Channel Islands which we cannot ship to because of flight restrictions). Sorry we cannot send them outside of the U.K. They are made to look and feel realistic and although they are made from metal, it is not a gun metal and they are designed so they cannot chamber or fire any rounds of ammunition. They are designed for prop use and they have moving parts, although excessive use will wear the parts out, worn out parts are not covered by the warranty and the manufacture does not make or supply spare parts.
