101st Airborne 506th Infantry Officers Collar Badges with Early Pin Back Fastener

American Officers 101st airborne Branch of Service collar insignia with pin back fasteners.

This is a pair of US Officers WW2 cross rifles collar insignia with the numbers 506 above the rifles. The numbers are the regimental unit numbers, the 506 is for the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment which is part of the 101st Airborne Division.

In WW2 these badges where worn by officers in the 506th P.I.R. (Parachute Infantry Regiment) on the Class A dress uniform tunic and on shirts collars when not wearing a tunic.

These collar badges have the early pin back fastening, the pin back and the later clutch back fasters where both worn throughout world war two.

The crossed rifles with the pin back fastener do not sit as flat as the wings with the later clutch back fastener, the pin back sit a little bit away from the tunic giving them a distinctive look.

These could be worn by all Officers from the rank of 2nd Lieutenant upwards.
