SBR Small Box Respirator Bag. British Gas Mask Bag only
The First war SBR bag would be used to carry the small box respirator. This is for the gas mask bag only.
The bag's main compartment is split into two by a divider, each side to receive the mask and cartridge respectively. The side for the cartridge has a metal coil sew into the bottom. There is a string waist strap and metal strap adjuster on the shoulder strap.

The WW1 Small Box Respirator was first introduced to British soldiers in April 1916 - a few months before the Battle of the Somme. By January 1917 it had become the standard issue gas mask for all British soldiers.
